PUTRAYAJA – 25 FEBRUARY 2022: Malaysia will be the focus of the medical industry again,
as the country welcomes the World Congress of Nephrology 2022 (WCN’22) delegates at Kuala
Lumpur Convention Centre from 24 th to 27 th February 2022. Supported by Malaysia Convention
& Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), organised by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and joint by Malaysia Society of Nephrology (MSN) alongside Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN), thiscongress hosts the world’s leading experts in kidney health to exchange the latest science and clinical applications in improving kidney care and preventing kidney disease worldwide.
Being the first international hybrid event of 2022, MyCEB is pleased with the great response in
the number of international delegates attending physically and virtually and this is due to the
impressive lineup of plenary speakers that put forth a compact and impactful topics. More than
3,000 delegates are attending the event online with more than 900 Malaysians attending the
event physically making it one of the highest turnouts for medical congress since the pandemic.
“I would like to congratulate the organising committee for turning this event a reality especially
having the need to crucially cater to both in person and virtual attendees. We are welcoming a
total number of 2,100 international delegates virtually which I personally look forward to meet in
person once border are open. This event was supposed to attract a record number of 4,000
international delegates which could have generated RM120 million in estimated economic
impact had it be done physically. With this regard, I truly hope the government authorities shall
reconsider ease of travel for our business events delegates that broadly contribute not only to
the national economy, but more importantly to the advancement of medical and science,” says
Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.
“Hosting a world congress is not easy but we at the Malaysian Society of Nephrology are glad to
have undying support and encouragement by our delegates from all over the world. We also
receive a never-ending support from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Malaysia Convention &
Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) who have helped us since the biding stage until the congress is
finally here in Kuala Lumpur.” says Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, President of
Malaysia Society of Nephrology.
The World Congress of Nephrology 2022 (WCN’22) highlights three scientific themes within its
programme which are Kidney Failure, Chronic Kidney Disease, and Acute Kidney Injury. In
addition, WCN’22 will also feature The ISN Community Film Event. A unique initiative to raise
awareness and improve understanding the reality of living with kidney disease. This shows that
demonstrating the confidence of international event organisers in Malaysia will create even
more opportunities for high-quality international congresses to be held in the region.
Bringing business events back to life, a high-profile event of this significance and magnitude is
no mean feat. The national bureau has long reimagined the future of business events by rolling
out new incentives, marketing plans and safety measures to ensure experts and peers from
around the world experience a smooth operational management to network, share ideas and
best practices in the relevant fields. Building on the success of this event, Malaysia will continue
to show support in the upcoming events happening in Malaysia by exploring innovative and safe
platforms for great minds to converge, connect and collaborate.
