9th CHT INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 2022

 

The 2022 CHT International Awards, organised by CHTNetwork on 22 October 2022,
welcomed over 400 national and international guests, including leaders of industries and
foreign dignitaries, in their formal best. For over a decade, this one-of-a-kind award
ceremony has continued to be an influential platform for both Malaysian and international
award winners. 

Held once every two years, this year’s gala event, aptly themed “The Four Elements - Earth,
Water, Fire, and Air,” was hosted at the newly renovated Sunway Resort in Sunway City
Kuala Lumpur. Deeply regarded as the essentials of life on earth, the theme grounds us
and brings us back to the basics of life following the pandemic, providing an opportunity for
reflection and reconsidering our life priorities.

 

CHT International Awards 2022 is supported by MATRADE, with AFFIN INVIKTA and LOUIS
XIII as main sponsors. Other sponsors include Sunway Resort (as venue sponsor), AFO
Radio, Mega Fortris, Pensonic, Rhone Ma, Ghee Hiang, One East Museum and EZ .
Y.A.M. Tengku Sulaiman Shah Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-
Haj graced the 9th edition of this prestigious award ceremony as the Guest of Honour.
Other distinguished dignitaries and guests included H.E. Mr Cheuy Vichet - the Ambassador
of Cambodia to Malaysia, H.E. Don Diego Velasco-von Pilgrimm - the Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chile to Malaysia, YBhg Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussain
Aljunid - Advisor to CHTNetwork and Media Prima Bhd Group Chairman and YB Yeoh Soon
Hin - Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, amongst others.

In his welcoming address, Founding President, Dato’ Chng Huck Theng said, “The CHT
International Award is more than an award ceremony. It is a platform that holds for the
value of hard work and persistence with a vision to change the world for the better.
Mediocrity has no seat on this podium. It is reserved only for those whom we believe
represent the best in what they do. "

organisations that have achieved success in their respective industries and contributed to
their societies and humanity as well as creating a sustainable environment for leaders of
today to guide our future generations,” he added.
During the award dinner, Farhan Azizan, often dubbed the “Royal Singer,” captivated the
audience with her powerful vocals. The subsequent hybrid fashion runway by the Sunway
College-STYLO Fashion Design Technology Hub showcased the creativity of its students in
both the red carpet award dinner and Metaverse.
“We are delighted to be able to provide a platform for emerging fashion leaders to present
their creations while also allowing the public to witness and support local talents,” Dato’
Chng said.
 

The charity auction this year benefitting The Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and
Federal Territory with 5 exquisite custom-made outfits donated by award-winning
Malaysian fashion designer Calvin Thoo. This charitable initiative was in support of the
project “Adaptive Fashion for the Underprivileged,” in collaboration with Sunway College-
STYLO Fashion Design Technology Hub raised RM24,000 for its cause.
 

YBhg Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Razak (Chairman of KL Airport Service Sdn Bhd; Director of T.H.
Properties Sdn Bhd) received the coveted CHT Lifetime Achievement Award 2022.
Five (5) CHT International Outstanding Achievers Awards 2022 were presented to the
international recipients from Australia, Cambodia, Chile, and Singapore in recognition of
their remarkable dedication to and success in supporting the local and international
communities. Additionally, ten (10) CHT Excellence Awards 2022 to national leaders from
various sectors, including food and beverage, property development, asset security,
hospitality and tourism development, the industrial revolution, global logistics,
philanthropy, and fashion.
