KUALA LUMPUR – 29 March 2022: The Asia-Pacific Week 2022 is a series of member-led,
local activities across Asia, which takes place in the week commencing 28 March 2022. The
local activities panned out reflects the Global Exhibitions Day with fun and informal gatherings.
Jom Makan & Food Donation Drive is a networking event open to all UFI members in Malaysia
and local exhibition industry players. There will be food tasting and most importantly a food
donation drive with the Food Aid Foundation. With the blessing from the Government in June
2003, Food Aid Foundation (FAF) was born in 2013. The mission of this NGO is ZERO
Dependency on Food Bank and its distribution in nourishing hope, eradicate hunger and
poverty. The collaboration between UFI members and Food Aid Foundation has given the
committee an opportunity to respond to the needs of our local communities.
“This informal gathering with a CSR activity allows Malaysia’s UFI members to network with
the business community and strengthen our joint efforts in reviving the exhibition and trade
industry. It is my fervent hope that today’s congregation not only ensures persistence in
elevating the exhibition and trade portfolio while awaiting the borders reopening, but it also
pushes the industry to position and stage Malaysia as a central hub for exhibition activities in
staging the global show,” says Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB.
Explaining further about the Jom Makan & Food Donation Drive, Mr. Noor Ahmad, UFI
Ambassador explains, “The COVID-19 pandemic is causing hardship for communities across
Malaysia, hence we are committed to providing help wherever we can. We hope our donation
to the public will bring some immediate relief to the people in need,”.
“We applaud MyCEB’s efforts in galvanising the forces in an apt opportunity and, are delighted
to be supporting this food donation initiative to provide nutrition and food to the communities in
need. The overwhelming support by the exhibitors, organisers and partners of FHM
demonstrates the solidarity and sensitivity of the exhibition community to the local
communities. Business events are about exchanging resources, creating opportunities and
leaving behind legacies. Today is a reflection of the industry’s commitment to always give
back and to nurture our extended communities through the simple act of coming together. We
look forward to supporting more industry initiatives such as this in the future,” says Alan Pryor,
General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
